Firmware

The DIGITAL Personal Workstation a-Series flashROM contains AlphaBIOS firmware. Use the AlphaBIOS firmware to:

• Display system configuration information.
• Set up the hard disks (partition and format).
• Upgrade the AlphaBIOS firmware.
• Install the Windows NT operating system.
• Control PCI parity.
• Set the date and time.
• Maintain the operating system selection list.

Go to the AlphaBIOS section for more details. Configuration information is stored in the NVRAM section of the flashROM. If the MLB is replaced, the information in the NVRAM is lost. Keep records of the configuration information to facilitate getting your system back into use.
